Newport '09...Way Past Due!

Better late than never right? Well here it is in one big post (well I'll try to keep it short with mostly pictures).

Disneyland & California Adventure

Our first 2 days in so-cal were spent at Disneyland and California Adventure. I personally like the California Adventure side better because it has the more "grown up" rides. It was fun though taking Ava on the storybook rides. She was trying to look around at everything and take it all in.

The "classic" Disneyland picture at the entrance.

Meeting Mickey and friends

Ava's own personalized Minnie Mouse ears

Huntington Beach

On Sunday Christy's parents and sister and brother-in-law left to go back home and Christy, Ava, Joel (Christy's bro), and I stayed until Friday. On Monday we went to Huntington Beach. When we got there we took a walk down the pier and there happend to be some dolphins passing by. Then Christy, Ava and I relaxed on the beach for a bit soaking in some of the nice 80 degree weather, while Joel went longboarding on the boardwalk.

At the end of the pier

Family pic standing in the water (is that guy picking his wedgie in the background?)

Ava does not like cold water at all. When she was on the wet sand she had a real nervous face on her, but as soon as the water came up and covered her feet a little bit, this is what happens.

Pool Time

One of the days we just stayed and relaxed at the hotel and took a little swim at the pool. This time Ava enjoyed the water a lot better since the pool was heated to like 80 degrees.

She loves to stick out her tongue

Other Fun Things

Some other things we did that we don't have pictures of are:

  • Went shopping at Fashion Island
  • Venice Beach (crazy place with a bunch of hippies)
  • Universal Citywalk (already made a post on that down below)
  • Laguna Beach

All in all the trip was a lot of fun. Thanks to Christy's parents for letting us use the timeshare the whole week. We can't wait til next year!
